Meet Sandra

Me in my dads car

It’s with a grateful heart that I welcome you to my online home of Be Still Photography. My name is Sandra, I am a southern girl who loves God, family, the smell of Autumn, enjoys the comfort of winter and loves watching God breathe life into spring.

I’m a believer that we should forever hold onto the moments that make us happy, and thank God for each one. Capturing moments and turning them into tangible memories is my favorite way to share Gods beauty.

I want to make your portraits come to life as they live on your walls and in your heart. I want your photos to speak without a sound as you are reminded of the people, places, and things that tug on your heartstrings.

I would love to share with you what drives my inspiration for the art of photography. My inspiration comes from a deep loss and a reconnect with Christ. My dad suddenly was called home to be with the Lord, May 10, 2012, a huge part of me died that day. I believe we get stronger through the hurt times when we surrender ourselves to God. God met me in my garden, took my hand and started breathing life back in.

I was once a dead flower coming back to life as he watered me through bible studies, my husband, my sweet babies and wonderful friends. I could hear His gentle voice saying, “Sandra, be still, know that I am God. Your father is with me and you will see him again. Look at your children, they are growing and you are grieving. Look at the beautiful flowers I have provided, I want you to see them. Listen to the birds chirping, they are beautiful, and I want you to hear them. I want you to enjoy your life knowing your dad was proud of you, I am proud of you, your family loves you. Just be still, my child.” Dry your eyes my friends this is God at work.

My sweet husband during this time gifted me with my camera. I unwrapped the box, but what I didn’t realize then was that God was gifting me, my dreams. With little experience, no training, but a lot of heart, I set out to become a photographer…and that’s precisely what happened.  I learned through the grieving process that even though a part of you may never be the same you are still loved and are blessed with the life God has given you. Be Still Photography origin is from Psalms 46:10 God says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Another point of origin comes from my dad repeatedly asking me, “why are you always in such a hurry?” So to honor God and in memory of my dad we have Be Still photography.

“It is not fame that I desire
Nor stature in my brothers eyes
I pray it’s said about my life
That I lived more to build Your name then mine.”
Kari Jobe

I saw God today is the feeling I get when meeting you and your family. You instantly become my family as we embark on a journey to share your love story, your life story, and your dreams all while capturing precious memories throughout your session. I look forward to laughing, dancing, posing, rolling around in the grass, and climbing trees with you.

God bless,

Sandra
